Innovative Design. Community Driven
A successful building project brings people together and elevates its surroundings.

Regardless of the type of building we’re designing, BGW Architects recognizes the importance of creating an environment that nurtures the inspiring, empowering and comforting essence of community, both internally and externally. We believe that a key ingredient for any successful project is the effective use of collaborative design techniques that build unity and momentum toward a common goal.

Collaborative Design Process

Unlike typical design methods in which the architect works separately with little “back and forth” input from the owner, BGW’s highly collaborative charrette design process takes place at the client’s site, allowing design solutions to evolve quickly with real-time adaptations by the architect, based on the feedback of key client leaders and the General Contractor.

We have found that this kind of collaboration builds unity and momentum quickly. Clients who have participated in this process find it energizing as they think through how they will utilize space to the greatest advantage both now and in the future. Matters that are not entirely clear going into the charrette have a way of becoming more clear as vision and ideas are discussed between all representatives. The visual tools that are created, including floor plans, site plans, elevations and exterior renderings, will help to bring your vision into focus.

Finding Value During Design

There are many architectural firms that can provide creative design solutions, but creative design alone can be problematic if it is simply an exercise to show fantastic possibilities without regard to budget constraints. Our goal is to not only translate your vision through architecture, but to continually seek value and savings throughout the design process.

Unlike typical design and construction methods in which the architectural plans are completed and then sent out to contractors for bid, BGW engages in a unique process to explore the plans with subcontractors at a much deeper level prior to receiving their final bids. In addition to value engineering and cost saving ideas, this process allows the BGW team to make the necessary changes to the construction documents that can clear up any confusion and significantly reduce or eliminate change orders during construction.

Employee Owned. Client-Focused

BGW Architects is an employee-owned firm that has worked with clients across 47 U.S. states and 3 foreign countries since its founding in 1996. Headquartered in Ogden, Utah, the BGW staff includes 10 licensed architects as well as a highly trained support team of 20 employees that serve roles as designers, drafters, project managers, and administrators. This includes personnel in Cornerstone Building Supply, a non-profit company founded by BGW that sources products and furnishings to our projects at factory-direct rates.

Don Mahoney and his team at BGW brought professionalism and design expertise to the process of creating a new Science & Nursing building for Simpson University. It was clear that his years of experience in the field came together to help us get the best facility that we could afford.

We have worked with BGW on 5 different builds, our latest being a new construction in a new market. They were able to take our vision of a more modern, interactive branch and create a design that enabled us to stay true to our brand while also standing out in a new market.

We initially worked with another architect who designed a building that was nearly two-times our budget. Fortunately, BGW came at just the right time. From our first design meeting, we knew we had chosen the right team to complete our project.
